Getting Together

RAVE

Nearly every fortnight, students from Year 1 through Year 6 come together for and actively participate in our exciting RAVE (Religion and Values Education) sessions. These are taken by the Principal, Deputy Principal, Chaplain and a range of invited individuals and groups. They comprise of praise and worship, relevant messages, celebrations, games and activities.

House RAVE

At least once a term, students from Kindy through to Year 6 meet in their School Houses – Carmichael, Slessor, Taylor, and Wesley – for special activities and planning for upcoming House events and carnivals. On those days they all come in their colours and have a great time.

Class Assemblies

Assemblies take place at 8:40-9.20am on Fridays according to the school calendar found on the Parent Portal or School APP. Assemblies are attended by Pre- Primary to Year 6 students. Kindergarten and Kick Start students attend “special event” assemblies such as the Easter Assembly. Each class will organise and present one assembly per year.  Students receive Merit Certificates at these assemblies. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

End of Term Awards are presented at the last Assembly of a Term or alternatively the first in the following term. One Citizenship, Achievement and Academic award are to be given out as end of term awards. These are based on consistent effort and success over the term.

Special Assemblies

During the year we also celebrate special times and events. Of note are our wonderful Easter concert, ANZAC Day commemorations, Remembrance Day commemorations, and the famous KCS concerts.

Graduation

The Kalamunda Christian School graduation consists of two special events, held in the last week of Term 4 each year. The first is a special assembly that includes the Year 6 students being honoured and congratulated by the other students along with other members of the school community. The highlight is each student ringing the old school bell ‘one last time’ followed by a Guard of Honour.

This is followed by a Graduation and Awards Evening attended by the students and their families. It provides the students and their families with the special opportunity to reflect and share in the memories of the formative primary school years and includes a special awards presentation.
